The Overview

Losing your driver's licence due to disqualification or suspension can have a major impact on your life, from your job and education to your family commitments. At CJ Legal, we assist clients in applying for a Limited Licence, often called a "Work Licence." This special court order can allow you to drive for specific, approved purposes even while you are otherwise disqualified, helping you maintain your livelihood and responsibilities.

Our Approach to Your Defence

01

Eligibility

You may be eligible to apply if you have lost your licence from a criminal conviction, demerit points, or a suspension. You will need to show that your disqualification or suspension causes extreme hardship to you or undue hardship to another person (such as an employer or family member).

03

Guidance and Support

Even if there is a mandatory 28-day stand-down period after your disqualification, we advise starting the application as soon as possible. This ensures all paperwork is ready the moment you are eligible to apply, minimising your time off the road.

02

Thorough Case Analysis

We will guide you through the entire application process. This includes preparing the necessary affidavits and documentation and representing you in court.

04

Personalised Focus

We believe in transparency. The costs associated with a Limited Licence application typically include our legal fees, a court filing fee paid to the Ministry of Justice, and an application fee paid to the NZTA. We will explain these costs to you from the outset.
